Istanbul (Day 1)

On our first day in Istanbul we visited various historic sites in the city. We started in the Sultanahmet Square area where we saw the Hippodrome, the Blue Mosque and the Byzantine church of Hagia Sophia. The 1400 year old Hagia Sphia with its huge dome is one of the most remarkable buildings I have ever visited. After lunch we visited the Topkapi Palace and the Grand Bazaar. Whilst the Topkapi Palace area was very interesting, photography is not permitted in many parts so I have only a few photographs from there.
