House Sparrow

(parus domesticus)
The House Sparrow used to be one of the commonest birds in Scotland but its numbers have decreased significantly in recent years. It is thought the modern building methods and the hard landscaping of many urban gardens have contributed to this decline. Where it does occur it is usually in a large noisy flock.
The hotel I usually stay in when holidaying in Turkey is alive with sparrows due to the traditional curved tile roofing method which affords endless nesting opportunities.
