From Espanola we made the short crossing to San Cristobal which took a couple of hours. On the crossing we had good views of Galapagos Petrel and Galapagos Shearwater and some nice views of Pacific Green Turtle as we came into Puerto Baquerizo Moreno which is the capital of the whole of the Galapagos Islands.
We had one target bird on this island - the endemic San Cristobal Mockingbird. We boarded a couple of pick-up trucks which took us up the road to just outside the town. The mockingbird was somewhat more elusive than the ones on Espanola and it took us a little bit of searching on a scorching hot afternoon before we managed to tease one out of the thorny woods by the roadside. Eventually it performed quite well for us.
A bit of free time allowed for a walk along the sea front which gave good views of some Lava Gulls bathing in a fresh water stream on the beach.
