Coot

(Eurasian Coot fulica atra)
The Coot is one of our commonest water birds being found almost anywhere. They often gather in large numbers over the winter. Their nest is a heap of grass or reeds very low to the water - in fact they frequently get flooded out if water level rises and the nest is lost. They are very agressive argumentative birds, always chasing and fighting.
