The Bullfinch is a fairly common but unobtrusive bird which can often be overlooked. Its call is a thin piping whistle which often gives away its presence. They are normally found in pairs but in winter there can sometimes be flocks of 30 or more birds together. Bullfinches can cause a lot of damage to fruit trees as they love to eat the emerging buds in late winter and spring.
