Blue-winged Teal

The Blue-winged Teal is an American species which is a rare vagrant in Scotland. As is usual with wildfowl it cannot be said whether a particular bird is a genuine vagrant or an escapee. Nevertheless, the drake Blue-winged Teal is a handsome bird which is well worth a view. Views of a flying bird reveal the striking blue wing panel which gives the bird its name.
