In the early hours of October 12th the culmination of prolonged heavy rain resulted in scenes of absolute devestation around the town. By dawn the water had receded but by 13.00 hours another spate of water hit the town.
Mansfield Park - home to Hawick Rugby Club, the mighty Green Machine, was under several feet of water and many places of business and homes were left to count the cost as the waters peaked around 14.00 hours.
