Locations: Horse Wynd (Outside Parliament) and High Street/Castle Terrace Junction.

The inspection of the Edinburgh boundaries began in 1579 but came to a halt in 1718. Apart from a special ceremony in 1946 the practice lay dormant until 2009 when some 250 riders marked the occasion. The same number of riders carried out the duty on Sunday September 12th 2010 before entering the city centre via Holyrood Park, Canongate and the High Street to the Mercat Cross where the Captian made his report to the Lord Provost amid thousands of viewers from around the World.
