The Kirkin' was held at Wilton Church and was followed by a wreath laying ceremony at the grave of James Hogg, author of Teribus, and where singer Michael Aitken gave a rousing rendition of the song.
This was followed by the traditional walk through the town to lunch in a local hotel. Unfortunately the weather, much different to the glorious sunshine of the day before, meant the 'big 8' were required to walk at quite a pace to reach the dry sanctuary of the Buccleuch Hotel.
