Day 1 - Aug. 17 - We arrive at the Venice airport only to find that our luggage is still in Atlanta USA. Our First location is the medieval walled city of Citadella in the province of Padua.
The city was erected in 1220 as a means of providing a fortified outpost. Its wall is 1461m in circumference and 450m in diameter with a hieght of 14 -16m. It has 4 gates correspondiong to the 4 compass points,and a series of 32 towers.


Our second location that same afternoon was the Villa Barbarigo. Once accesible via canal from Venice, it was built in the 16th century, and spans 40 acres with statues, fountains, a boxwood labyrinth, and a Villa / Palace.
