Needles

Yosemite NP, California, USA.

For the life of me I cannot remember which waterfall this shot was taken by, though I do remember it was huge. I saw this backlit pine tree with its tufts of long needles and then simultaneously noticed the fine backlit spray thrown out by the tremendous force of the falls which caused it to billow out and envelop everything including the tree. I realised that if I used a medium shutter speed I could cause that backlit water spray to stretch out into long needles of light which would echo that of the pine tree.

I like the rain and the light in it.

If that were a painting it would be perfect so I don't see why a photograph could rate any less. In fact it should be more. It is lovely.
