Tracked In Blue

Duffus Castle, Moray, Scotland.

A vicious frost had lingered all of the previous day and was renewed again the following morning at Duffus Castle. I moved to a field just outside the boundary fence having spotted tractor tracks criss crossing the frozen field and was intrigued with how the reflected light from a clear sky had painted them blue greatly strengthening the patterns.

NEW!! Photographic holidays at TRANSIENT LIGHT.

Pentax 67 II ,55-100 zoom,Fujichrome Velvia
0.45 ND grad across sky and castle, careful lens shading to avoid flare, f/22 at 1/8 sec. full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

Dear Ian, The photos are spectacular. I especially like your going back to scenes in different light and weather. I also like, as you obviously do, that lone and dead tree like a hand reaching toward the heavens at Rannoch Moor in Glencoe.

Simple but beautiful image.

Exquisite frosty treat. Wonderful composition with that sheet of ice for foreground interest. Nice depth and light.

The, blue cold light, is a nice photo feature in the winter months, but at times can be a nuisance when one is attempting to shoot a nice white winter scene...
