This bizarre alien tree stump is normally submerged below the surface of Loch Droma and is usually completely inaccessible even though it is just a few yards off shore. With air temperatures down to -16C the water has turned to ice several inches thick so I skated out to it and slid my tripod into position excluding the backdrop. It makes quite a powerful but simple composition.
