Etive Gold

Glen Etive, Glencoe, Scotland.

There are two great times of the year to visit this little lochan the first is early June when all those rhodedendron covered islands are festooned with pink blooms against a verdant green hill and again in the autumn. Here the slopes are smothered in a golden carpet but it is the fortuitous position of the sun in late afternoon that illuminates the far slopes turning the little lochan into a pool of liquid gold.
