Lupin Dereliction

Aviemore, Cairngorm, Scotland.

The option to photograph this derelict house with its amazing display of wild lupins has now disappeared. The building was set on fire by vandals and the shell bulldozed. Never-the-less it is a wonderful epitaph to this charming spot near the mountain village of Aviemore.

I was just sent a link to this website by a friend, and I find your work stunning. This image is particularly glorious - it put me in touch with a childhood memory. When I was a small child we lived in South Carolina, and on a rural drive came upon an impressive brick wall with an old iron gate, the path on the other side completely overgrown. Amazingly, in front of the gate was a brilliant swath of multi-colored phlox, the flowers a sea of coral, pink, red, purple and white. The air was heavily perfumed with the fragrance of the flowers. I was only 6 years old, but I've never forgotten that moment in time.

I am so grateful that you choose to share your special vision with the world. Thank you.

Hi , my family come from Grantown on spey just down the road from this house, i remember loving driving past it when i was wee , sad to see that its gone now , but great photo , certainly does it justice !
