I was pretty convinced the scene that confronted us at Mellon Udrigle could not possibly be surpassed by what we had witnessed earlier, but arguably I was wrong. The sky filled with lenticular clouds ripped off the Fannichs in the gale force winds that swept offshore from the nearby Fannichs. The clouds became fringed by rings of reflected amber and orange above blown spray from the mountainous turquoise waves, all taken shortly after sunrise. It was epic and I confess I found it almost impossible not to press the shutter release.
