Evolution

Finnichs Glen, Trossachs, Scotland

I've taken the unusual step for me of reproducing this image in an larger size than usual as it benefits from the extra details.

This deep dark and verdant gorge is a stunning but rather inaccessible place in the Trossachs. I have visited a few times but I always wanted to visit on a rainy day in Autumn where the very soft light and rain would work in tandem to reduce contrast and make the intense greens spattered with autumn foliage and ruby reds of the sandstone rock and peaty streams, scream with intense colour. Whilst there I fancied I saw this colossal slimy mud covered Jurassic log crawling on its belly out of the primordial swamp.

That log does look prehistoric :) A stunning shot - the touches of fall colours work beautifully on this extraordinary place. BV
