This old tree at the edge of Loch A Chroisg was said to have been struck by lightning but the damage is more likely to have been as a result of frost during years of heavy freeze thaw cycles. The silvered dead limbs of the tree formed at roughly right angles around the split trunk, tufts of green moss and a carpet of rust red bracken create a generous palette of colour whilst the perfect mirrored reflection in the water provide a jig-saw like confusing backdrop.
