Though the soft coloured light at the beginning and ends of the day is usually better than at other times on this occasion it wouldn't have been of any particular benefit. Either side of Loch A Chroisg sees mountains rising directly and oppressively out of the water and for light to illuminate these trees it is better to be there in the late morning. A gorgeous heavy sky undoubtedly helped matters as did the differential patches of light that create the depth that solid or zero illumination would fail to provide. The final result is all that really counts and I find it to be very satisfactory.
