The flood plains at the back of the beach at Fredvang are criss-crossed by channels which are tidal. They are periodically empty and full and make wonderful subjects surrounded as they are by waves of flattened grasses. At first light the sun rises behind the mountains and the channels which are usually perfect mirrors reflect any colour in the sky. This morning it was unusually cold and a hoar frost formed on the grasses. As the tide receded ice plates were left over the flattened grasses.
