Tidal Web

Dail Beag, Lewis, Scotland

Huge Atlantic rollers crashing onto the coarse grained sand and half buried gneiss rocks created some of the best water web patterns I have ever seen on this tiny little cove at Dail Beag on the west coast of Lewis. I had to use a long enough shutter speed to show the lines created by the withdrawing wave it being smoother and more consistent than the breaking wave but at the same time care had to be taken that the following wave didn't destroy the patterns created by the one previous.

NEW!! Photographic workshops and masterclasses and fine art cards are now available at TRANSIENT LIGHT

I love the gossamer flow of the water around the stationary rocks in this well seen and executed photograph. V.
