Environmental Dichotomy

Boulby, Yorkshire, England

Just along the road from one of the most picturesque seaside towns in England, Staithes, is the cement works at Boulby. The contrast between the beautiful surroundings and the doubtless vital man-made conglomeration of smoking chimneys and steel pipe seems almost unbelievable, certainly incongruous, but on a day like this one I have to admit I find it's intrusion on this agricultural landscape, strangely harmonious, even satisfying.
