The pine islands that adorn the banks of Loch assynt are wonderful to photograph but most of the time it is done from the other side of the cove with the light from a setting sun painting them with warm colour. On this occasion it was dreadfully hazy with barely a cloud to be seen anywhere. I opted to silhouette them to create some recessionary shapes and hope for a red ball sunset. Fortunately for me my guess was correct but I hadn't considered such a delicious and subtle colour gradient in the sky.
