At 3.45am on a mid summers morning there isn't a sole around except of course the group of photographers joining me on a Caithness and Sutherland masterclass. It is difficult to convince folk I'm not a bread roll short of a picnic at times but fortunately this was one twilight venture that paid off handsomely. Pre-dawn the sky turned a sumptuous plum colour which combined beautifully with a delicate sea mist and the cool clamminess of twilight to create that eerie glow of the gloaming. The changing colours were spectacular right through to sunrise.
