Venice is a magnificent place to visit and a photographic paradise but it has to be said you would be best steering clear of the summer months when the smell of drains lingers long and unpleasant. I really enjoyed my visit in late October the heat had dissipated and with it most of the crowds but the atmosphere was still tangible without being olefactory. This was a morning shot through mist of one of venice's most famous landmarks the Bridge of Sighs so named because that was the sorrowful sound allegedly made by the prisoners taken across the bridge prior to their final demise.
