Green Cobbled Gold

Loch Duich, Highland, Scotland

There was some stunning light on Eilean Donan Castle at Loch Duich just before sunset so rather than shoot the castle in silhouette against the setting sun a small group of us hopped across the road bridge and shot the castle as it turned to gold. After some consideration I decided on a flagstone jetty, a small patch of which had been covered in luminous green seaweed, a low position gave an interesting perspective pushing depth of field to the limit but the results were very satisfying.

I totally agree with McGarva. Eilean Donan has got to be one of the most photographed castles ever. It has almost become a boring beauty. This photograph is stunning.
