Gentle Maelstrom

Mellon Udrigle, Laide, Scotland

Mellon Udrigle is my absolute favourite beach on mainland Scotland I find its reddish sands, turquoise seas and the inevitable glowering grey skies totally inspiring. As luck would have it the indigo march of the Inverpolly mountains provide a wonderful backdrop to the gentle chaotic motion of the sea as it retreats over the delicate pink sand. Simply by watching and counting the seconds between successive breaking waves I was able to figure out the best exposure for my anticipated shot.

NEW!! Photographic workshops and masterclasses and the 2011 Transient Light Calendars and fine art cards are now available at TRANSIENT LIGHT
