Stac Pollaidh is one of the most distinctive peaks in Scotland yet despite its forbidding appearance it is a remarkably quick hill to climb. There is a reed bed at the foot of the hill in Loch Lurgainn which is highly photogenic in Autumn as the reeds turn to gold but on this occasion I experienced some of the most atrocious weather Scotland has ever thrown at me. A savage squall sprung up not once or twice but several times in rapid succession on each occasion it was preceded by a wave of sunlight and then huge hail stones stung my legs and head forcing me to seek shelter beneath my tripod and a make shift teepee. On each occasion I took just one shot and this was the best of them.
