Lonesome Oak

Valensole, Provence, France.

During a brief two week excursion to France with my family I had the opportunity to sneak off at dawn and sunset to this little area around valensole which was inundated with some very fine lavender fields. On this occasion it was the lonesome Oak tree on the brow of a hill that caught my attention its isolation pleases me greatly.

Hi Zane. Personally I don't think a sense of place/location is always necessary and in some cases it is undesirable. For a calendar image "place" is often important or at the very least useful but emotion/atmosphere/welbeing is vital, as then the location/place is sucessfully usurped creating a more globally useful image.

It's graphically delightful in it's utter simplicity, but in visual terms, how would we know where this is on the planet? How important is a sense of place?
