Painted Mellon

Mellon Udrigle, Laide, Scotland.

A river of molten gold appears to flow into the sea at Mellon Udrigle as the sun bursts through low cloud and sparkles on the sea surface. The warmth of the shot thanks to the golden dawn light belies the fact that it was unbearably cold on that January morning.

It's an interesting question as to how to express that it is 'unbearably cold' in purely visual terms? It looks about like it does here in Northern California where it would be a balmy 55-65 degrees F on the beach with a light breeze. Maybe it's the warm golden tones that connote warmth? Or the minimal inclusion of cool tones? BTW, Love those Scottish place names (my grandfather was Scottish).
