This bleak and desolate place is at its gloomiest on a grey winters day. It also happens to appeal to me immensely. The cold leaden atmosphere was tangible and positively effervesces with mood. What really caught my attention were the starfish shaped fractures on the ice. I framed up this distant shot towards the red heather clad slopes of the Blackmount beyond. It was virtually the only colourful bit in my viewfinder.
