I am calling the main tourist part of Venice "Venice City". I think, more precisely that St Marks Square, the Doge's Palace, other tourist hot spots and our hotel, are on an island called "Venezia Sestiere Castello". For us, Venice was the number one highlight of our tour. Despite the crumbling masonry and sometimes slightly smelly canals, the city is a magical place.
