We spent a couple of nights in Amsterdam in December 2008 during a quick rail tour to Brussels, Amsterdam and Berlin to see the Christmas fairs and lights. It was cold but it was good to sample how Europeans celebrate Christmas. The deciduous trees had no leaves so we had a better view of the historic buildings than we would have had in the warmer months.
