Here are 100% crops from the centre of the frame at 82mm wide open (left), stopped down to f8 (centre), and for comparison, the same shot with my Nikkor 85mm f1.8 AF-D at f5.6 where it is arguably about the sharpest thing Nikon makes. These were all shot unsharpened fine jpg in camera, USM 1,200 applied after.
