7-Sequoia 2001

I went 2400 miles in 6 days averaging 400 TWISTY miles a day. Great roads I took on my counter-clockwise trip were Breckenridge, 190 with quick ess curves south of Peppermint, Rte 180 to Kings Canyon, 168 thru Pine Flat Lake (east of Fresno), THE esses on 49 south of Coulterville, Feather River Highway from Quincy to Oroville, 299 from Redding to Eureka, the Avenue of the trees south of Eureka and Rte 9 from Redwood City to Santa Cruz. From Rose Valley Lookout, the start of my trip at about 7:45am. The fog was thick. At 8:27am there was a VAFB launch. Taken near Pine Mountain cutoff.
Breckenridge Rd is between Bakersfield and Lake Isabella. One of many hairpins on Breckenridge. Breckenridge starts at 1000 ft., peaks at about 7000ft and travels 37miles...slowly. 1 1/2 hours.
There are many narrow portions on Breckenridge. The sign at Breckenridge and Bodfish Roads. Lake Isabella from the top of Bodfish Rd.
Entering the south end of Sequoia. Kings National Forest. The rock formation in Kings is awesome.
Camping at the east end of Kings near Independence on 395. Nice and peaceful. The Esses on Hwy 49 south of Coulterville.
Feather River Highway 70. Avenue of the trees off Hwy 101 south of Eureka. Drive thru tree in Leggett.
