Bridge (scan)

Vancouver, BC, Canada

Spanning the narrows of Burrard Inlet, the Lions Gate Bridge was built in order to sell land: being seen as a 'Band Aid' for the hemorrhagic unemployment
caused by the Great Depression. What was then the longest suspension bridge in the British Empire was officially opened by King George VII and Queen Elizabeth in 1939.

(Scanned in from my trusty old Canon Ixus L-1... -- still going strong!)
