Dinton Park, Philipps House and Hyde's House

According to British History Online:
The Dinton Park estate was much enlarged in the 18th and early 19th centuries by acquisitions of land in Dinton and Teffont Magna.
Among these acquisitions was the estate known as Dalwood, which Lord Pembroke conveyed to William Wyndham in 1802 in exchange for land elsewhere in the parish.
The Dinton Park estate descended from father to eldest son in the Wyndham family until 1916 when William Wyndham sold it to Bertram Erasmus Philipps.
In c. 1940 B. E. Philipps let the house on a long lease to the Y.W.C.A. as a holiday home, and in 1943 he gave the house and park,
comprising some 200 acres, to the National Trust."

"[An] early 19th-century neo-Grecian house, designed for William Wyndham, a leading late Georgian politician;
[and featuring an] impressive collection of Regency furniture and furnishings."

The William Wyndham (IV), who built the house at Dinton, was never a member of parliament, although many of his cousins were notable in that field. His son, William (V), was subsequently an MP. It seems that William (IV) presided over a very successful farming enterprise as well as buying and selling numerous manors in Wiltshire, Somerset and Gloucestershire
