Charlecote Park is one of our local National Trust properties: purveyors of great walks; great lunches; great venison sausages; great coffee; and too many tempting second-hand books...!
Arthur Mee, in The King's England (1949), describes it thus: "It is a noble house, half hidden from the road by a parapeted gateway with an oriel window above the arch... [which] brings us to formal gardens surrounded by old walls, and beyond is the magnificent front of the great house...."
