Comfort fit rings are specifically: rings that have a rounded interior for a more comfortable fit, as opposed to the flat interior of standard fit rings. As a result, a comfort fit ring or comfort fit wedding band is going to feel slightly larger than its size equivalent in standard fit. This difference in feel is due to the sizing of comfort fit rings being taken from the peak of the rounded interior, with the outer edges of the ring tapering out to a slightly large size on either end. Standard fit rings have a uniform sizing from one side to the other similar to the inside of a pipe it is the same diameter from one edge to the other. And that is why the general rule in standard fit rings, the wider the band the snugger the fit, since they compress more of the finger, and with consideration to the band width you may need to increase your sizing accordingly! (Note: this can cause incorrect sizing at many local jewelers.) And this is why I now prefer to make all of my rings in comfort fit bands, since it is much more forgiving in any sizing fluctuations due to weight gain or loss from many factors as mentioned below. Comfort fit rings must have the size read from the middle of the band on a tapered mandrel, the sizing tool used for rings. While standard fit sizing is read on the mandrel from the bottom of the ring. This is important because if done incorrectly, the size of your ring can be off by a whole to half size. Comfort Fit Wedding Bands are currently the most preferred wedding bands, especially for men. They are designed with a rounded interior so they slide on easier, don't pinch, and sit on your finger more comfortably. Comfort Fit bands are definitely more luxurious and comfortable for people that are not used to wearing rings (like most men). They are also good for people who have to frequently take off their wedding band, since removal is not as difficult with comfort fit. Once you have selected your ring style or fit you have to find the right size: the ring must sit comfortably on your finger, must be easy to slip on, must not slip off on its own and of course, must look great on your hand. Ring size is not the same as finger size. A professional jeweler can determine proper ring size using a set of standard fit steel gauge-rings. These “ring sizers” come in narrow and wide widths but only in standard fit sizings. Other methods, such as measuring the finger with a strip of paper, or slipping the finger through pre-cut "measuring holes," are inaccurate. Factors that can affect ring size include: the menstrual cycle, temperature, humidity, water retention, and exercise. Fingers change over the course of the day due to diet, work or temperature and this affects the results of gauge rings. It is recommended that fingers be measured at the end of the day, when they are at their largest diameters. And be sure once you are confident of your sizing to try on a band in the same fit, band materials, (if possible) and width you plan to order and make any adjustments if necessary to be absolutely sure of your sizing before you place your order! Since my rings are not resizable, returnable, refundable if the wrong size is ordered! It would require me to make you another ring, which would cost us both more time and money! I have added a International Sizing Conversion chart that I use for converting your rings to the US sizes I use for my rings for your reference. And these are based on you getting sized correctly and making any necessary size adjustments by trying on a comfort fit band in the same band width you plan to order, if necessary. Thanx Ron!
