Richard Guadagno was the Refuge Mananager at the Humboldt Bay National Wildlife Center. Richard was killed on September 11, 2001 when his plane went down in a field outside of Pittsberg, Pa. Terrorists had hijacked Flight 93 in an atempt to use it as a weapon against the people of the United States, but their plans were thwarted by the heroic efforts of the passengers ot the flight. Many believe that Richard, as a trained law enforcement officerof the US Fish & Wildlife Service, was a major part of that effort. The center that he was so instrumental in building was named in his honor.
