Catamount Trail Length of Vermont Tour. January 31st thru March 1st, 2003.
The Catamount Trail is the longest backcountry ski trail in North America. It runs for over 300 miles from Massachusetts to Canada. Terrain crossed varies from groomed xc and snowmobile trails to difficult terrain requiring heavier gear. The most challenging sections have more vertical and gradient than many alpine ski areas. I tagged along with some end-to-enders for 100 of the 300 miles.
