Blue Hills - January 25, 28 & 29, 2005. Photos are of three visits to Blue Hills Reservation in the week following the "Blizzard of 2005." At 635', Great Blue Hill is the highest point within an hour of where I live :( Wachusett, an actual small mountain, is 50 miles further away. The Blizzard dumped about two feet of snow in the area and a 2nd storm added a few more inches. Winds over 60 mph blew much of the snow off the higher terrain making depths less than a foot in many spots. What they call a blizzard in eastern Mass would be called just another storm in northern New England and New York (except that this year, snowfall in those places has been well below average). We had fun and it was nice to ski without first driving 100 miles or more.
