Chroicocephalus ridibundus - Black-headed Gull
This Black-headed Gull was ringed at Leak Babite near Riga, Latvia (56° 54' 30''N, 23° 41' 12''E) on June 18, 2010 as juvenile. This is 1345 km ENE of Leiden. The December 30, 2010 observation was the first report of a bird belonging to this project in the Netherlands. The same bird was noted again exactly one year after the original sighting, at precisely the same location! Unfortunately the bird was not very confiding: hence no good pictures could be taken.
