Chroicocephalus ridibundus - Black-headed Gull
This adult Black-headed Gull carries a Finnish metal ring ST 251.980. The bird is marked on April 15, 2007 as >2CY by the Museum Zool. Helsinki, in Espoo, Uusimaa, Finland (60 14 N, 24 32 E), some 1500 km from Leiderdorp. In Leiderdorp it was seen regularly between December 16, 2009 and February 14, 2010. It returned to Leiderdorp on November 21, 2010 and spent much of the winter in Leiderdorp. It returned for the 3rd consecutive winter on November 9, 2011 and was also present November 13, 2011. It returned again on January 13, 2013. It lost its left leg in the summer of 2014 but manages to care for itself at least up to December 2017.
