Hello Tim and other friends, I was a refugee on Pulau Tenga where Mr. Joe Young (now maybe change to Brother Theo Young) came in 1977 to help us build an ESL teacher aid team to teach our people in the camp. We're very closed with Mr. Joe Young. Our family would like to contact Mr. Young. Please help us on how to contact him. We're now in San Jose, California. Thanks a lot. Luong

Hi Gary, Unfortunately, I myself haven't had a chance to revisit Hue-Da Nang since 1972, so I have no clue about them now. I would suggest that since you have only a day for each city, a land tour would help you see most of what you need to see. I always go with the ones that got the best online customer reviews.

Hello Tim, I hope this email finds you well. My name is Tas. I'm an actor and director and I'm 1 of 7 artists who have been commissioned by the British Red Cross to design an installation as part of their 150 years celebrations. I am currently collaborating with a Vietnamese woman who was a 13 year old girl when she moved through the Kai Tak refugee camp in Hong Kong. I have also been speaking to another woman who was a nurse in the camp at that time. I am currently working in London with a bi-lingual Vietnamese actress to create a sound-design installation recalling the plight of the Vietnamese during the crisis. Hello Joe, I am glad you put Joe there, as for thousands and thousands of us in Galang in 1985-1986, you are always remembered as Joe. When I said "the largest", I meant by land area, not by refugee population. I already put a small note, thanks to your comment. Thank you.

What a wonderful site! Congratulations, Tim! The fact that many of the items are written or explained in both Vietnamese and English is very helpful to a greater number of interested people. The photos are well selected as well I have already commented on Facebook that your assertion (I did not know it was you at the time (^_^) that Galang was the largest refugee camp in SE Asia can be challenged. For sure, it was one of the largest; but, for example, my first posting with UNHCR was in Malaysia, where I arrived in April 1980; at that time, there were 50,000 Vietnamese refugees in that country, in 9 different camps (8 of which I eventually got to visit, as Education Officer), but Pulau Bidong was the main and largest camp, with 25,000 people, which, I was told, was far less than in the previous 2 years. The processing camp, for all Indochinese refugees, in Morong, Bataan, Philippines, also often had a considerably larger population than 20,000. But all that aside, your photos, beautiful poems (wish youo had dated them), and engaging stories are really excellent, Tim. Once again, congratulations, from your P. Galang partner, Joe
