I once got 'Housemaids Knee' from polishing that deck with my boot brush every night after supper... Sometimes you could come back from a nice day out in Harwich or Felixstowe, to find the other watch had been misbehaving, so CPO Honeybun had us all scrubbing the deck all evening, or doubling up and down the Long Covered Way in our pajamas (in mid winter, snow on the ground!) I spent some of Dec 1965 in sick-quarters with pneumonia... I also recall learning to pull and sail a cutter in mid winter - brrrr!

I think this may well be 17 Mess Anson Div in 1965. The figure on the left would be P.O. Penney and, on the right, C.P.O. Honeybun.. 17 Mess definitely had the 'wardrobe' affair at the end for our oilskins, and just looking at their figures I feel fairly confident I recognise them. I have this picture stashed-away somewhere! If I find it I will scan and submit a better copy. I was 770 Class, Port Watch, my bed at the rear left!
