I was in Duncan moss in the Long covered way. Just before the road. One of our Instructors was a PO Steele I think. We also had a tall lanky instructor but sadly cannot remember his name as he was a nice bloke.I left Ganges and joined HMS Vernon..Now a shopping centre. I left there and joined HMS Malcolm on fishery protection. In 1968 I achieved my dream and became a Submariner. Best years of my life. I left in 76 time served. I only left because I had a wife and 2 daughters.I then went on to be a miner becoming a Deputy/ Shotfirer.Hard work but the camaraderie was the same as the Navy. In the meanwhile I became a Retained Firefighter for 25 years. I have been a Civil Servant for nearly 30 years. I will be 72 this year. Still drinking. Never been out of work. I really enjoyed my time in the Mob and a proud to have served.
