rthawk - Basically, I no longer apply gaussian blur to a layer copy of the whole image. Rather, I apply gaussian blur to only the parts of an image where there are blemishes, if any. It's good to experiment with new methods and in this case, it taught me not to get caught up in using just one method for all photos. Be flexible and try new things.
