Update: the plant pictured here is Spathiphyllum, or, more commonly, peace lily.

Hubert, this is not skunk cabbage. This is a popular houseplant but it's name escapes me. The true skunk cabbage has a similar flower but it is yellow and grows in water, usually in swamps or along the edges of streams or brooks. It occurs in the wild here in the Pacific Northwest. I wish I could tell you the name of the plant depicted. If I remember what it is I will let you know. You do have the botanical term correct for the skunk cabbages.
