Freedom Tower Model

Laguardia Place - Greenwich Village, NYC

During February 2004, this model was on display at the American Institute of Architects New York Chapter on LaGuardia Place between 3rd and Bleecker streets.

The corner stone for the building was dedicated July 2004.

In August 2005, plan announcements were made that radically altered the design by adding a huge concrete barrier around the base of the building for "security" reasons - giving the "freedom" tower the appearance of a giant ground level bunker.

With the new year 2008 upon us, the building site is still a hole in the ground.
